The geographic distribution of Sacalia quadriocellata was studied by literature review,interviews with the local people,and fieldwork.For interviews,a total of 18 cities and 103 towns were surveyed.Six field study sites including Limu Mountain,Jianfengling Mountain,Bawangling Mountain,Nanmao Mountain,Ewanling Mountain and upper researches of Wenjiao River were investigated by regular sampling and cage trapping.The results indicated that: 1) S.quadriocellata distributed mainly in mountain and upland areas in central and southwest Hainan Island.Of the 18 cities investigated except Haikou,Wenchang,Lingao,Ding'an and Chengmai,S.quadriocellata was found in 13,in which 8 were new distribution cities.2) S.quadriocellata inhabited in mountainous stream with elevation ranging 170～640 m,but not in plain,mesa,beach,big rivers,lakes,and reservoirs.
