Abstract |
It has been proved that differences in terms of hours of sun taken and the air and water temperatures at these times exist between Trachemys decussata decussata of different sex and age. This factor reduces the competition for sights of thermo-regulation. The postures assumed by the individuals during the sunbathing are described and the existence of aggressive behaviour during this time is highlighted: in the males this consists of the opening of the mouth and in the females of the displacement of other individuals. The frequency of the different types of aggressive conduct during the day are given and it is shown that the aggressive behaviour of the males occurs mainly before the peak hour of sunbathing, while the female aggression takes place when the sunbathing sights are occupied.
